Sauna Bathing

Bathing in heat for the purposes of purification, cleansing, and healing is an ancient practice, dating back thousands of years and observed across different cultures.

Variations of its use are seen today in the Banyas of Russia, the sweat lodges of the American Indians, and the traditional saunas of Finland.

These diverse expressions are unified by one truth: Heat heals.

TYDE HAUS at Bayley Beach, Rowayton, CT

We collaborated with the 6th Taxing District (Rowayton, CT) commissioners to build and operate Connecticut’s first and only seaside sauna.

We landed in a stunning location on Bayley Beach, where bathers can track the oyster boats early in the morning and watch Manhattan illuminate as the sun sets over the Long Neck peninsula.

This project has been an unprecedented success and introduced a vibrant community to a new, healthy practice.
