Heat - A Performance Edge 💪🏼
A 2007 study out of the University of Otago put trained runners through three weeks of post-exercise sauna sessions and measured what happened.
Run time to exhaustion improved by 32%.
Plasma volume, the fluid that carries oxygen through the blood, increased by more than 7%.
Heat acclimation studies have shown a 3-5% improvement in VO2Max.
Exposure to heat after effort enhances training effects.
For athletes focused on building strength a single sauna session raises growth hormone output by 2-5x above baseline.
Two rounds with a cooling period between them and some studies put that figure closer to 16x!
Growth hormone is the mechanism behind muscle repair, fat metabolism, and the cellular work that turns a hard training week into gains.
The bottom line: Sauna bathing extends the period during which the body is responding to the work you’ve already done.
Showers, Bottle Filler & Bathrooms 🚿
As well as our location update there has been some significant upgrades at Bayley Beach.
The showers are back running, a bottle filler / drinks fountain has been installed and the bathrooms are open.
Now you can start / finish your run with us or go directly to lunch and dinner post sauna.
Thank you for being part of the TYDE HAUS community,
